About FDI

Over the years there has been so much focus on the role of leadership leaving out the importance of good followership in achieving organizational success. It takes a combination of both the leadership and followership responsibilities to achieve organizational goals.

Organizational success is not possible with leaders alone without the dimensions of the follower’s efforts. Followers are critical in achieving set goals and objectives in the organization. Followers are called subordinates in corporations, citizens in a nation, offspring/wards in families, and members/disciples in religious circles. Organizations that take their roles or behavior for granted will pay for it in an ugly way at the end of the day. For decades, their roles, behavior have not been explored as much as leadership has been studied. At Followership Development Institute (FDI), we have designed training and courses aimed at helping followers take responsibility in a Leader-member exchange. Such that organizations can maximize the abilities and skills of subordinates while developing commitment and loyalty in them for organizational
success.

At the moment FDI offers Basic and Advanced certificate courses termed Followership 100 and 200. They are available in spring, summer, fall and winter semesters. Each class is made up of six modules designed as a 16-credit hour course. It includes classwork, presentations, and assignments. They can be taken as weekend courses within two days (intensive) or spread within three days (work days). The online version of either of the certificate courses is available. Weekend and weekday training is available.
